Table games are to be permitted in Pennsylvania, US, following passage of a new gaming bill in the state's House of Representatives on January 6.
Representatives voted 103 to 89 in favour of allowing games such as poker and blackjack in the state’s casinos, a move intended to help them compete with neighbouring gaming jurisdictions.
The law will permit large casinos to have up to 250 tables, while smaller resorts can offer up to 50.
“We view this as a win for Pennsylvania taxpayers,” Brett Marcy, a spokesman for Democratic leader Todd Eachus, was quoted as saying.
“This was something that neeed to be done to balance the budget gap and it will create thousands of jobs for Pennsylvania."
