Peermont now operates 11 multi-faceted casino resorts across southern Africa and it sees the Emerald as fitting into this core business, said Nigel Atherton, CEO of Peermont. “It presents great opportunity for growth and development and an additional benefit is that Emerald will now be able to offer a wider range of rewards through our Winners Circle loyalty programme.”

Emerald has been operating since 1997 and has a 77-room hotel and 430 machines on its casino floor, plus 22 tables. It also has an Aquadome water park, amusements park, spa and range of restaurants.

The sale has yet to be approved by the Gauteng Gambling Board and the Competition Authority.
