The period, covering February to April, started well, said Partouche, before operating days were reduced by 50 per cent with closures beginning in the middle of March.

Income was therefore confined to non-French venues, mainly Switzerland online gaming and betting in Belgium. Overall GGR in those sectors increased more than 100 per cent to hit €23.9m.

French casinos have now started to welcome back customers from May 19 with only slots and electronic games accessible and a 9pm curfew. That has now been extended to 11pm and table games are back in operation.
