Ocean Resorts in Atlantic City, US, has received its gaming licence and can now open as planned next Thursday.

Ocean CEO Frank Leone, who has experience in Atlantic City casinos Taj Mahal and Caesars, said the property will cater to core casino audiences while continuing to build on appealing to conventions, groups and leisure customers.

The former Revel will allow smoking, which it originally did not, and will have a buffet which will open later this year or early next year. The smoking ban at Revel was the biggest complaint among casino customers, who were made to feel unwelcome, Leone said. The smoking ban cost the casino 20 per cent of revenue, he noted.

Ocean will partner with GAN for igaming and will be ready to launch on July 1. Additionally, Ocean will have a temporary booth for sports betting set up for six weeks until William Hill’s permanent sports book is complete.
