The SkyCity casino in Auckland, New Zealand, is undergoing a major upgrade which is to cost US$15.8m.

The work is mostly in the main atrium of the location and owners SkyCity Entertainment are installing new wall claddings, chandeliers and lighting plus new doors and floors. Fresh bathrooms are also going into the complex.

Preliminary work has already begun on the frontage. The Atrium Sports Bar is to have a premium gourmet burger bar and the escalators linking the three floors of the atrium will be replaced with one new main escalator. On the main gaming floor on level two there will be a small extension taking up some of the atrium space. The entire project falls into line with SkyCity’s agreement to build the New Zealand International Convention Centre.
