The Merkur Group has appointed Christian Reinhard as a new member of its management board as Werner Kurt Schroer steps back.

Reinhard, who is new to the gaming industry, will be responsible for Technology and Development at the gaming group.
He said he finds the sector “particularly fascinating” due to the mix of disciplines including art, design, mathematics and data security.
The opportunity to “create unforgettable moments of entertainment and enjoyment of gaming” also played a part in his move to Merkur, he added.
Reinhard has over 20 years’ experience in the development of automotive electronics, such as navigation and driver assistance systems.
He has also spent more than 15 years in leadership and in the structuring of internationally dispersed teams of developers.
Paul Gauselmann, Merkur founder and chairman of the board, said Reinhard will ensure “continuity” in the development aspect – which he said is “so important for the corporate group while also creating scope for fresh ideas.”
Schroer has resigned from his role on the Merkur board after 19 years for health reasons but will be available in an advisory capacity.
