New details on Wynn Resorts’ proposed New York City casino at Hudson Yards on the West Side were released on Wednesday.

The proposal, which is a joint venture with Related Companies and Oxford Property Group, is expected to carry a price tag of US$12bn.

The casino complex will also include a 5.6-acre public park, 1,500 new housing units and a new public school.

One of the issues opponents of the bid have cited is the project would partially block views of the city from High Line park, though Related Companies has responded with what it called substantial changes to address those issues after meeting with non-profit Friends of the High Line.

Assemblyman Tony Simone and Assemblywoman Deborah Glick came out against the project, and Simone will be on the six-person board tasked with giving final community approval before Wynn could be approved for a casino licence.

Wynn is vying for one of three downstate New York casino licences that should be awarded late next year.
