Mobile gaming – in all its forms – is expected to become the industry’s biggest growth area this year.
Bally Technologies recently acquired MacroView Labs, a leading supplier of custom mobile apps and mobile websites to casinos and Kurt Gissane, the company’s managing director for the Asia-Pacific region, believes mobile is an increasingly important market segment.
“There are already more smartphones sold today than PCs, with billions of apps downloaded annually,” he said. “In the US alone, practically every casino currently using mobile technology is experiencing significant growth in the number of downloads every month.
“With this technology, the operator now has the ability to showcase every offering they provide, such as entertainment, food and beverage outlets/specials, in-house promotions, popular games, progressive jackpots, etc., to their patrons in real time and direct to the palm of their hand.”
Thanks to the acquisition of MacroView Labs, Bally now has a mobile gaming product to complement its games and systems businesses, he continued.
“Our mobile business is part of our new Bally Interactive division, which we recently launched and which will encompass mobile, internet and social media technology and initiatives.”
