For Slovenian multiplayer specialist Alfastreet, the Latin American gaming market has a great deal of potential, but is not without its risks.
The regulatory frameworks in the countries it supplies pose, in Albert Radman’s opinion, the biggest challenges for both operators and equipment providers.
Describing the region’s gaming regulations as among the least developed in the world, Radman suggested that the lack of control over revenues, taxation and financing presents problems for businesses there. Operators cannot be sure of their investments, he said, meaning manufacturers cannot always be sure of being paid for their products.
“All in all, the Latin American market is very significant,” he told InterGaming, “but also very dangerous and the risk is very high. Still, any serious manufacturer looks for its place in the territory, as the world is small enough and we cannot afford to miss out.
“At the end of the day, we are in the gaming business and should gamble a little bit.”
