Konami Gaming’s Matt Reback said the first day of last week's G2E show in Las Vegas was “busier than ever.”

The company’s stand housed a variety of big new products, headed by the Titan 360. This is a huge limited edition (only five have been built) multiplayer gaming machine which plays on Konami’s Japanese amusement heritage. When bonus rounds are reached a huge mechanism in the centre of the machine swings a ball until it finds a slot which indicates the jackpot level.

It is all very eye-catching and would create a high level of excitement in a casino. “There has been a lot of interest,” said Reback. “If the demand is there we may have to rethink our limited edition strategy. People want a different experience now and this certainly provides that.”

Also new was Rapid Revolver, which has a Podium cabinet as its base with a tall top incorporating six mechanical reels that spin horizontally. “This hasn’t been done before,” said Reback. “It was developed for the Australian market but it was doing so well we decided to bring it here. A feature of our content development recently is that the R&D departments in Japan, Australia and North America share information.”

The Podium cabinet range has been extended. Following the upright and slant top versions comes Goliath, simply a super-sized Podium. It stands over 93ins tall and includes two 32ins high-definition LCD screens. The company’s Selexion 10-station multiplayer features instant game changes. Konami’s Synkros management system has added Player on Demand, a tournament feature.
