IGT’S regional vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Sabby Gill, may at first glance seem an odd choice for our keynote interview spot.

At the beginning of last year he wasn’t even a part of the gaming business, previously having a long association with an entirely different industry. But that is exactly what makes his view of gaming so compelling. He came into it last summer and looked at it through the eyes of someone who had spent almost a quarter of a century in IT.

“I had previously worked within the IT industry pretty much my entire career,” he told InterGaming. “I started at computing company Digital around 23 years ago as my first job out of school and progressed through the finance organisation. I ended up falling into a role supporting and implementing ERP systems, which led to my next move working for PeopleSoft.”

Gill describes this move as “probably the most significant” for him. “I was joining a company that was just entering Europe and joining as employee number 50 in EMEA. Ten years later I was part of an organisation that had grown to 1,100 in Europe and close to 5,000 employees worldwide.”
