The Japanese government is considering submitting a bill to introduce a basic law on gambling addiction prevention, Japanese media Jiji News reports.

The law would require gambling operators, including municipal governments, to put together basic plans for toughening gambling regulations, said sources speaking to the news outlet.

The law would cover not only casinos, but pachinko and horse racing.

Discussions were initiated at a ministerial meeting on December 26 to legislate measures for problem gambling.
