Hopes that the latest version of a bill to expand gaming in the US state of Illinois would get Governor Pat Quinn’s signature have been slightly dampened.

While Quinn’s office issued a statement saying the bill was a step in the right direction, Quinn also said more changes are needed before it gets his seal of approval, the Chicago Tribune reported.
“You have to do it right the first time. And so until it’s absolutely right, then I don’t plan to sign it,” Quinn said. He also said there’s time to work on the bill and it could pick up improvements in the House that will make the best possible final product.
The issues appear to be the specifics related to pension reform and distribution of funds for education. Additionally, Quinn wants more time to thoroughly review the ethical standards of the bill.
The bill includes provisions for five new casinos, including one in Chicago; slots at racetracks including Arlington Park, which could have up to 1,200 slots; and an increase in gaming positions at existing casinos from 1,200 to 1,600. Source: Fantini’s Gaming Report
