Hard Rock International has unveiled plans to open a casino in the Meadowlands area of the US state of New Jersey as early as summer 2016.

At a news conference, Hard Rock chairman Jim Allen said the billion-dollar property “will compete with anything in the world,” hosting 200 gambling tables and 5,000 slot machines across the 650,000sq.ft site
Lawmakers in the Garden State last week introduced a bill that would authorise a state-wide vote on building up to three casinos in the north of the state, in the process stripping Atlantic City of a state casino monopoly it has enjoyed since 1978.
The legislation must be passed by August 3 for a referendum on the move to be held in November.
