On the eve of the ICE Totally Gaming trade show at ExCeL, London, last week, the Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF) met at Aspers Casino, Westfield, Stratford City, London, for one of its regular discussions on gambling matters.
Aspers has a considerable track record in the promotion of responsible gambling in the UK. In 2011 it introduced the Community Action for Responsible Gaming (CARG) at its Newham location. CARG is a voluntary body made up of gambling charities, religious bodies and community representatives which works closely with the police, councils and others to come up with ways to avoid problem gambling.
It has an independent chairman, Graham White OBE, who is also a member of GREF. White is a former Chief Inspector of the UK Gaming Board.
