The International Association of Gaming Advisors has awarded scholarships for research papers on gaming topics by law school students in North America.

The association annually announces its Shannon Bybee Scholarship Award after assessing entries through its member attorneys. Two awards made this year were to Alex Gardner at Vanderbilt University Law School, Nashville, Tennessee, and to Corey Hallquist of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Jennifer Roberts, committee co-chair, said: “This year we received a diverse selection of submissions from law students throughout North America. This year’s applicants addressed issues ranging from surveillance and pari-mutuel wagering to checks and balances in the video game industry and the normalisation of gaming regulations.

“The Bybee Scholarship is an excellent way to encourage the next generation of gaming industry legal experts to become engaged in critical gaming issues and we are pleased that we continue top receive such excellent and thought-provoking submissions.”
