The vice-chairman of Galaxy Entertainment, Francis Lui Yiu Tung, says the company has pushed back the launch date for the first portion of phase three of its flagship Cotai casino resort, Galaxy Macau.
It will now open in 2020 rather than 2019 as previously suggested. Phase four is to be in operation in 2021. Galaxy Entertainment’s current Macau gaming rights are due to expire in 2022.
Lui admitted that the construction application procedures for phase three, which began in 2016, had taken “longer than expected,” namely because of what he said were “new government requirements which we are obliged to follow.”
