SLS Las Vegas, the newest resort on the Las Vegas Strip, will open a week ahead of schedule on August 23.
“It’s such an honour to be part of a dedicated team working around the clock to help bring our vision to life,” said Rob Oseland, president and COO of SLS Las Vegas. “Today we’re turning on our lights and the countdown officially begins as we prepare to welcome guests at SLS Las Vegas one week ahead of schedule.”
SLS Las Vegas’ 10,000sq.ft, four-sided marquee will count down the number of days until the opening. SLS Las Vegas, owned by SBE Entertainment, began work in February 2013 on the site at Las Vegas Boulevard South and Sahara Avenue. The new Strip resort, the first to open in nearly five years, will bring more than 3,000 jobs to Las Vegas.
SBE says SLS Las Vegas will bring celebrity chefs, nightlife and 1,600 rooms and suites to the northern end of the Strip. It is on property that formerly housed the famed Sahara, which closed in May 2011.
