Pachinko operator Dynam Japan Holdings is to venture into resort development, which it sees as “a promising new business.”
The company said it was well placed to move into resorts as it has been operating pachinko halls for 48 years and has hired up to 300 new university graduates annually since 1989, gathering expertise in various aspects of the operation and management of facilities.
The company identified Marine Pier Toyoura Dynam Training Institute in Yamaguchi prefecture as the intended site for a new resort. A resort development group has been established and a basic plan will be prepared during 2015 with the aim of budgeting for the business year of 2016.
“The board considers that entry into the resort development business is a good business opportunity for the group and it is in the interests of the shareholders of the company as a whole for the group to diversify its business scope so as to achieve better return to the shareholders,” the company said in a filing.
