Fitzgeralds Casino and Hotel in downtown Las Vegas is to be given a major overhaul to be re-branded the D Las Vegas Casino Hotel.

Scheduled for completion later this year, extensive renovations will include 638 rooms and suites, two new bars and Las Vegas’ only two-level casino.

The first-floor casino will boast the latest slots and table games, while the second floor will offer vintage slots and what the property’s developers describe as “an original Vegas vibe.”

Downtown Las Vegas has suffered in recent years as visitors have favoured the newer, self-contained resort casinos on the Strip. It is hoped the newly renovated property will prove a popular attraction.

“It’s absolutely terrific to be part of all the changes happening in downtown Las Vegas this year,” said D’s owner, Derek Stevens. “The D will elevate the energy of Freemont Street and immerse our guests in a fun and friendly party atmosphere.”

The property will remain open throughout construction and elements of the new brand are to be revealed over the coming months.
