Marco Emilio Hincapié, the president of Colombian gambling regulator Coljuegos, said on Tuesday that the regulation of Keno could be worth almost COP74.6bn (£14.8m) in tax collections annually.

The ancient Chinese game Keno currently has no regulations in the country, and therefore cannot be offered by any legal operator.

“Keno is an ancient Chinese game that we hope to grant in concession later so that it can operate in the country,” Hincapié said. “We have held several working groups to design the regulations that have already been submitted for approval by the entity's board of directors.

“We know that Keno is a very popular game in several cities in the country. For this reason, we hope that with the regulation of the game, the Colombian State can receive close to COP$74.6m annually for exploitation rights. All these resources could be transferred to health.”
