Century Casinos has applied for a casino licence in Vienna, Austria.
The company is one of at least four to have applied for the licence to operate a casino at the Hotel InterContinental. Century is managing a consortium of Austrian investors and, thanks to a 26 per cent share in and a management agreement with the newly established Century Betriebs AG, it is the leader of the group.
It is planning to invest around $18m if the casino concession is granted and will develop an “elegant retro 1960s style” casino at the hotel. Featuring 300 slot machines and 25 gaming tables across a 16,000sq.ft gaming floor, the venue will target both domestic and international tourists, business travellers and convention guests.
A decision to grant the 15-year casino licence is expected in the fourth quarter of the year.
