The general manager of one of Australia's leading casinos has been sacked for inappropriate behaviour.
Echo Entertainment announced on Thursday that Sid Vaikunta had been removed from his post at The Star casino in Sydney. In a statement to the Australian stock exchange, the company's chief executive, Larry Mullin, said: "Mr Vaikunta's employment has ended after his behaviour in a social work setting."
Vaikunta is being replaced by Frederic Luvisutto, who joined the company in May 2011 as managing director of Jupiters Gold Coast after more than 10 years in the US, where he worked at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
His appointment at The Star is subject to regulatory approvals.
The Star was recently relaunched and Luvisutto is expected to provide extensive management experience as the property moves from development to operational phase, said the company.
"Echo and The Star leadership team remain focused on continuing the transformation of the property into Sydney's premier entertainment destination," Mullin said.
