Rumours that the Macau government will relax its cap on table games are untrue, according to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

The six Macau casino operators hope the cap will be lifted as each plans a mega resort in Cotai that depends on more table games than the current cap would allow. Current policy allows for the number of table games to grow three per cent a year. But all together, the casinos will be asking for 3,200 tables. Gary Pinge of Macquarie recently wrote that he expects only 1,700 tables will be approved, plus 350 tables for the Macau Legend project planned in the Peninsula section of the city.
