In Australia, the battle for Brisbane’s second casino licence has heated up with Echo Entertainment now joining forces with Hong Kong’s Chow Tai Fook Enterprises along with a Far East consortium to make a joint bid for the casino resort.
With James Packer and Crown already pushing for the licence along with third competitor Greenland Investment, however, Echo desperately wants to block Crown winning the licence and competing against its existing 19-year-old Treasury Casino in Brisbane.
Echo, which has already lost the bid for Sydney’s second casino licence to Crown, which plans to operate a VIP-only casino from 2019, does not want to lose out again.
