Major US casino operator Boyd Gaming has reported second quarter revenues of US$616.8m, up 2.1 per cent from $604.1m in the same period of last year.

Net income was $38.6m, compared with $27.7m. For the half-year the total revenue was $1.22bn compared with $1.21bn and net income of $7.9m compared with $6.2m in the same period.

President and CEO Keith Smith said that the company was making steady progress toward completing the acquisition of five new properties in the Midwest and north-east of the country. “We further diversified our business by purchasing a distributed gaming operation in Illinois and are actively preparing to participate in expanded sports betting across the US.”

Boyd has 24 gaming venues in seven states, running 1.4 million square feet of casino space, 31,000 gaming machines, 630 table games, 9,400 hotel rooms and 280 food and beverage outlets.
