Net profits of Las Vegas casinos soared 191.4 per cent to $813.993m in 2017, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reported.

Statewide, net income grew 59.1 per cent to $1.557bn as the 272 casinos in Nevada that generated more than $1m in revenue posted a combined $26.174bn in revenue, breaking the record set in 2007.

Net income is described as money retained after expenses but prior to deducting federal income taxes and accounting for extraordinary expenses.

Non-gaming revenues continued to be more important, growing to 66 per cent of total revenues along the Strip and 57.6 per cent statewide.
