Operators have been invited to submit a tender to run a new integrated resort casino in Athens, Greece.

The Hellenic Gaming Commission has invited all interested parties to participate in the consultation process for the granting of an IR licence on the site of the former Hellinikon International Airport.

“The Hellinikon Casino goes beyond the licensing of just another gaming facility,” said the HGC. “This present call reflects the collective vision and commitment to collaborate on the further development and implementation of a sustainable tourism destination.

“The HGC envisages a world-class integrated resort casino operation as an important part of the Hellinikon, a project destined to transform the wider area of Athens and improve the lives of millions of residents and visitors to our capital city, enhance the Greek tourism product and become a growth engine for the Greek economy.”

The site can yield an area of more than 600,000sq.m and is envisaged to be developed as a large-scale iconic lifestyle destination with a of resort developments comprising hotels, convention and exhibition facilities, themed attractions, entertainment, casino gaming, shopping, gourmet restaurants, cultural elements and other tourist attractions.
