An armed gang threatened staff and stole cash from a casino in Bolton, UK, on Tuesday, January 3.

At around 7:40pm, four men smashed their way into the Grosvenor Casino on Ormrod Street. According to police, one was armed with an axe, one with a machete and an axe and one with a cosh.

Jumping over a counter, members of the gang threatened staff and stole the money before fleeing the scene. No one was injured. Police are now studying CCTV footage.

"These men intimidated staff with the weapons they carried and understandably, staff have been left extremely shaken by their ordeal,” said Detective Inspector Andy Cunliffe from Bolton CID. "I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the robbery and saw something suspicious to contact police.”

Rank confirmed that staff at Grosvenor Casinos are helping police with their enquiries.

The casino was closed on the evening of January 3 while police investigated the robbery but opened again on the morning of  Wednesday January 4.
