With further strengthening of the lockdown in Australia announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison earlier in the week, the prospects for the big Australian trade show, AGE, are also coming under the spotlight.
The show is set for Sydney’s ICC at Darling Harbour from August 11-13 and today Chris Muir, CEO of the Gaming Technologies Association, which stages the show, said that the organisation was going ahead with its planning and that support had remained positive. “We’re still four and a half months until the show is scheduled,” he said.
However, he said, the total temporary closure of the country’s 14 casinos and all of its clubs and pubs had focused the industry’s attention on what might happen. “We will continue to monitor the situation,” said Muir, “and if there is a real possibility that the show cannot go ahead on its projected dates, then we would look at the options.
“We’ll be guided by the government’s advice and we are of course keeping an eye on that as it develops.”
