According to the latest polling surveys in Australia, there will almost certainly be a change in government in the country when the General Election takes place in September.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard and her coalition government look set to be removed from office, say the polls. This is despite the strength of the Australian economy at present and the Australian dollar at an all-time high.

In would come the often unpopular – but it seems rather less unpopular – former Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, and his Liberal Party.

This is seen as a positive trend for the gaming industry. One of our contacts in the country said only today in an email to InterGame: “The prospect of a change of federal government is positive for the gaming industry - it's positive for almost all industries, particularly those involving small businesses.

“The current federal government has been heavily influenced by Independents and the Greens, which one might expect of a minority government.”
