Aristocrat is in talks to buy privately held Class II slot company Video Gaming Technologies for around $1bn.

Negotiations between Aristocrat and VGT have been ongoing for months. US-based VGT primarily serves Indian tribes with Class II slots, so its purchase by Aristocrat would solidify the latter’s position in a market where it is already strong.

If the deal moves ahead, it would be one of several major gaming transactions following Bally’s purchase of SHFL entertainment, Amaya Gaming’s acquisition of PokerStars’ parent Rational Group and IGT being up for sale.
