Cath Burns, who began her role as CEO of leading casino equipment supplier TCS John Huxley earlier this year, started her career in sales with IBM in Adelaide, Australia.

“My first territory was gaming and hospitality, which had a casino, a lottery and a new company that had received the licence from the South Australia government to run state-wide gaming with video lottery terminals,” she told InterGaming.

“As with so many people in this industry, I didn’t set out to be in gaming. I was delighted to join IBM and they offered me my first gaming experience, which I loved. In time I was offered a role by a   US gaming company to start up their Australian operation. Coupled with a love of the company, the products and the customers, I knew that I would work in gaming for a long time.”

Burns was pivotal later on in raising the profile of Bally Technologies in Asia. “When I started with Bally they had been out of the Asia Pacific region for several years,” she said. “Also, Macau was in the first stage of new growth with the Sands Macau opening and several properties under construction - Galaxy Grand Waldo, Wynn Macau, Galaxy StarWorld, Venetian Macau, etc.
