Progress towards an integrated resort industry in Japan has been slow and tortuous, not helped by the current global pandemic, but there are now some positive signs.

Politics has played a large part in this slow progress too, with one of the major prospective sites, Yokohama, having several anti-casino personalities putting themselves into the mayoral race over recent weeks.
