Game enablers - that, in a very simplified nutshell, sums up the role of the embedded platform. Over the past few years, however, scientific advancements have seen these platforms empower game designers in their quest to bring more reality, more involvement - in fact more of everything - to the gaming machine experience.

Embedded platform

“Gaming platforms are purely enablers - they are an essential component within an electronic gaming machine and of course must meet all technical and regulatory requirements,” said Jon Jayal of Quixant. “They are not a differentiator, however, in whether that machine is successful or not - that is the magic which is injected by innovative game development. It is clearly important to understand what game designers are looking to achieve and identify technology trends which are unfolding in the industry.  “Quixant tries to lead these by bringing technology into the hands of game designers which would be maybe more difficult or time consuming for them to access.”   So what does Jayal think are the key features of a successful embedded platform? “Reliability is always a prerequisite, but in addition a robust software environment which speeds up integration of a game with the underlying hardware is a strong benefit." “It is always difficult balancing cutting-edge performance with long supply availability but meeting this somewhat conflicting requirement is also an essential element to a successful platform.”
