IT seems an age since retailers were wrestling with the problem of how to deliver a seamless experience to their customers, irrespective of whether those customers were shopping online or in-store.

Separate data silos, separate stock systems, separate loyalty systems, no click-and-collect, no ability to return online purchases in-store, no online touchscreens in-store to allow customers to browse products… all of these were obstacles to “customer centricity” and the delivery of a great service to retail customers in a multi-channel world.
