More than 5,000 locations in the US state of Illiniois now have video lottery terminals, according to recent reports.
Over 21,000 machines are in operation but not in Chicago, as the state’s largest city seeks international casinos rather than street operations.
A bid by operators to beat the limit of five VLTs in one liquor-licensed store has failed. The state gaming board has rejected three proposals for VLT malls, saying that they would amount effectively to “back-door casinos.”
It means that developers will not be able to connect together adjacent VLT operations.
