Iqbal Mohammad: FECs using the conventional coin-based technology had several challenges. Also we saw in the market that some of the current systems available were deficient in the functionality. Semnox developed the Parafait suite of products to empower FECs and amusement centres to maximise their revenue, reduce pilferage and simplify their day-end operations. We wanted to provide ways in which FECs could increase the amount of customer spend and help them easily engage with their customers by way of promotions and loyalty management.

Why did Semnox choose to use RFID technology over magnetic strip?

Semnox has always believed in adopting and aligning itself to the next-generation technologies. RFID is clearly the way forward for cashless requirements, with its inherent ability to support stored-value operations. This decision has helped us develop a transformational outdoor solution today. Besides, we also found that our customers find it easy and more convenient to use as they just tap to play a game and not swipe. There is much less damage to cards after repeated use. First-tap success rate is very high compared to magnetic cards, where in some cases you need to swipe multiple times. Children find magnetic cards inconvenient as these cards need specific direction and side for swiping.
