Long-time UK industry stalwart Cliff Wilson has died, aged 73.

Cliff Wilson

Cliff, who had a long career, most notably with Bell-Fruit, died on Friday. No funeral details were available at the time of writing.

Cliff Wilson was born in 1940 in Bradford, Yorkshire, and his first involvement with the machine industry was in the 1960s when he joined Bell-Fruit and was with the Nottingham company for many years until he moved on in the 1980s to have spells with Rodstock Enterprises, Brent Leisure and Namco, from which he retired in 2003.

A sad John Brennan of Namco commented on Monday: “He worked in overseas sales for us; even now we occasionally get calls from abroad asking for ‘Meester Cleef.’”

Wilson still had many friends in the industry and would visit trade shows to renew friendships. He even wrote a book, Love it or Hate it – A life in the Amusements Industry, which contained many anecdotes, photographs and memories of his vibrant life in the industry.

Cliff leaves a wife, Una, and two sons, Ashley and Steven.
