Greece could introduce its new gambling bill to parliament as early as next month, InterGaming understands.

Earlier this month, the Greek government submitted its gambling bill to the EU and had hoped it would be fast-tracked by the European Commission. Although this appears to have been unsuccessful, sources suggest that the land-based provisions of the bill ought to pass without any difficulty.

The new law is intended to set out how the both the street and online gaming markets are to be regulated, the type of games permitted and the level of player protection required.

InterGaming understands that the inclusion of provisions relating to public health will likely meet the requirements of both the government and the industry, ensuring that the draft law is submitted to parliament no later than mid-June.
