Melco Crown Entertainment has unveiled its $250m musical stage show, the House of Dancing Water, at the City of Dreams resort in Macau.

The operator said that the House of Dancing Water production will form the centrepiece of City of Dreams’ leisure and entertainment offering and is expected to help the resort attract visitors from mainland China.

According to a report in the Financial Times, the company has seen an increase in the number of Chinese visitors since it began marketing the show on the mainland. Advertising for gambling is currently prohibited in China, so the show is seen as a way of drawing people from the mainland to the enclave.

Speaking at a press conference at the launch of the show, Lawrence Ho, co-chairman and chief executive officer of Melco Crown, said: "The house of Dancing Water puts together the best of the best in the entertainment world, which is truly a gift we tailor-made for Macau.

"This culturally attuned production promises to usher in a new era of entertainment in Macau, further enhancing Macau’s diversity as a multi-faceted tourist destination."
