The site earmarked for the UK's first super casino could yet house a casino, reports suggest.

It is understood that Sheikh Mansour, the owner of Manchester City Football Club, is considering developing the land around the club’s Eastlands stadium to include a theme park, luxury hotels and a casino.

Manchester was a surprise selection for the UK government’s super casino licence and following the collapse of the scheme, a number of redevelopment projects have been proposed for the area. It is estimated that if planning permission is granted by Manchester City Council, the project could cost approximately £500m.
