The Spanish government has said that it is "not aware of" the Gran Scala project, which includes the building of 32 casinos in the Aragon region of the country.

The government had been asked about the scheme by a representative of the country’s Izquierda Unida political party. The IU has warned that the project has “an unsustainable development model from the economic, social and environmental point of view.”

The government took eight months to reply and did so with a “two-line” response, the party alleges.
