After a five-day hike through rainforest, scrubland and desert, John Seed of Alfastreet UK successfully reached the summit of Kilimanjaro - at 19,340ft (5,895m) the world's tallest free-standing mountain.

The trip was completely financed by Alfastreet UK and the purpose was to raise enough money to buy a new powered wheelchair for a disabled child through the charity CHIPS. " knew it was going to be tough but had no idea the strain that altitude and lack of oxygen can put on the mind and body, let alone the severe cold at night and on the final 30 hours of the ascent," said Seed.

"I have the utmost respect for anyone who has achieved this kind of endeavour.  I’m also extremely grateful to all the private individuals within the industry who have kindly donated towards the fund. We are currently about half way there with contributions at just over £2,000 and I am hoping that with a bit of media exposure and corporate contribution, we should reach our final goal of £4,500 in time for a presentation of the full amount in January."

If anybody would like more details about the charity please contact Linda Lindsay at CHIPS (www.chipscharity.org). If you would like to make a contribution please send a cheque made payable to Chips Charity to John Seed at Alfastreet UK, 49 Atalanta Street, London SW6 6NT.
