Casino operator London Clubs International is launching a charitable campaign aimed at generating a range of goods for South African townships.

The campaign, A Deal 4 Africa, will run across all 10 clubs in a bid to collect goods to be donated to townships in the Gauteng province of South Africa. LCI will be working closely with Portsmouth footballer and South Africa captain Aaron Mokoena, who grew up in the region, to champion the cause in the UK.

LCI will be collecting clothing, children’s and adult reading materials, sports kits and equipment and art and craft materials.

Each of the company’s clubs in the UK have been challenged to fill 4ft of a 40ft shipping container with goods between now and the end of August. The items will then be distributed by the Emerald Charitable Foundation, which was founded by Emerald Casino Resort.

“London Clubs International is passionate in our role to support charitable issues both in our local communities and overseas,” said Roy Ramm, head of compliance at LCI. “The Emerald Foundation was founded by one of our international casinos in South Africa and they have done an invaluable job fundraising for the townships since opening in 2001.

“However, here in the UK LCI has 10 casinos and a nationwide presence and therefore we appeal to all of our customers, staff and of course members of the public who might be passing by one of our clubs to donate their goods."
