US-based operator Penn National Gaming has unveiled plans for a significantly expanded Hollywood-themed gaming and entertainment facility in Wyandotte County, Kansas.

The company’s total investment in the market will be in excess of $500, with an initial Phase 1 budget of $410m and a $154m Phase 2 expansion. In April, the company’s subsidiary, Penn Hollywood Kansas, filed its initial licence application to be considered as a lottery gaming facility manager in the county.

Penn’s updated proposal outlines Phase 1 construction featuring a 76,100sq.ft gaming floor, 2,000 slot machines, 58 table games, a 250-room hotel, meeting space, food and beverage outlets, two lounges and 3,050 parking spaces. The company also agreed to increase its charitable giving to the greater of two per cent of the net income of the casino or the annual amount donated by its subsidiary across the border in Missouri.

“The updated proposal presented today by Penn National reflects our deep commitment to bring an entertainment resort to Kansas City, Kansas,” said Peter M Carlino, chief executive officer of Penn National. “Our highly competitive proposal reflects our proven property development skills and our expertise as a multi-jurisdictional operator.

“We are confident that our proposal squarely addresses the needs of the county and the state both now and on a long-term basis.”
