Star Entertainment will double its efforts to bring in Chinese tourists, CEO Matt Bekier told the Australian Financial Review.

One out of every four Chinese visitors makes their way to a Star casino and only spends about A$150 out of the average $8,000 they spend on a trip, he said. Chinese visitors have spent $8.9m in Australia through June of this year.

More hotel rooms, cutting costs and improving marketing can all help capture more of that wallet share, Bekier said.

Only three per cent of Star’s $1.8bn in non-VIP residents comes from Chinese tourists.
