The gaming market in the Netherlands is to cease to be a government monopoly and become competitive.

The Netherlands

The Dutch government has decided to sell all 14 casinos operated by Holland Casino, authorise new licences and legalise and regulate online gaming. The government will sell 10 Holland Casino properties in a batch and the remaining four individually next year. In addition, two new casino licences will be granted in 2017. Casinos would pay a 20 per cent gaming revenue tax plus two per cent for problem gambling programmes and to regulators.
