The Trump Plaza casino could be the latest Atlantic City casino to close.

Atlantic City

The owner of the property, Trump Entertainment Resorts, expects to close its doors in September.

The company told the Associated Press that although a decision has yet to be made, it is expected that the Plaza will close on September 16 and that notices to employees will be sent today.

Atlantic City’s casino industry appears to be in a precarious position. The Atlantic Club has already closed and the Showboat is set to close in August. The Revel, meanwhile, could face closure due to ongoing financial problems.

If all four do close, this would leave the city with just eight of the 12 casinos that were open at the start of this year.
