Work has begun on Fiji’s first-ever casino, One Hundred Sands, which is expected to open in mid-2015.
The US$290m casino resort will create over 1,600 jobs during the construction period and once completed. The company is currently paying a fine of $100,000 per month to the Fiji government in contract agreement delays as the developers were supposed to have the casino resort built and operational in October 2013.
One Hundred Sands chairman Larry Claunch has told local newspapers that the company is still planning to develop the resort and will make a full statement on progress in April.
